Pentagon mulls Army strength

Article Abstract:

The Pentagon's decision on the addition of 30,000 soldiers to the Army in order to meet the demands of the war in Iraq is awaited soon though Army leaders have stated clearly that do not necessarily want to increase the number of active-duty soldiers due to the additional costs of salary and other outlays. In the event of the approval of the additional forces the Army would utilize the same to build up brigade combat teams in the interim period as it moves from a division-based structure to a modular brigade structure.
