Perceived exertion and discomfort associated with driving screws at various work locations and at different work frequencies

Article Abstract:

A study on posture discomfort and perceived exertion through driving screws using three different work frequencies and at various work locations was conducted. Eighteen subjects were made to drive screws at vertical and horizontal work locations at three varying degrees of work frequencies. Results revealed that knee-height screw driving produced the most stress in the torso while driving screws at elbow height produced the most stress in the knees and elbows.

Anthropometric data for describing the kinematics of the human hand

Article Abstract:

A study to obtain the anthropometry of the human hand was conducted to formulate a model of anthropometry based on external measurements. Six fresh cadaver hands from 4 males and 2 females who were over 65 years were used. Results indicated that the bony skeleton of the hand is well-proportioned. The data also validated a model that measured the anatomical estimate of joint centre.

Effect of friction and load on pinch force in a hand transfer task

Article Abstract:

The coefficient of friction on steady-state and peak pinch force is significant only for high loads. The use of tool handle friction enhancers such as aluminum and sandpaper may decrease the pinch forces required for objects needing 50% or more of maximum pinch strength. Cycle time does not appear to have a significant effect on the applied pinch force.
