Power-supply manufacturer EMI builds on the power of its people

Power-supply manufacturer Electronic Measurements Inc. (EMI) reinvented its treatment of customer value. Although the company used to prioritize 'productivity' and 'attendance,' a major shift was made to 'customer focus,' followed by 'team participation' and 'continuous improvement.' A visionary management team decided that customer value can be best enhanced through world-class manufacturing and process reengineering through education and employee empowerment.

Taking sales success to new heights with Six Sigma

Article Abstract:

Six Sigma has been effectively used by companies to initiate continuous process and quality improvement in sales and marketing operations. Motorola, AlliedSignal and General Electric pioneered the use of the method to enhance the quality of their manufacturing processes. In this method, a business' process performance is compared with customer demands to ensure that products and services meet the needs of the customer.

The question on how an organization can improve its processes has always been the challenge faced by companies. Part of improving performance isreorganizing functional flows that tend to confuse personnels into clearer steps and identifying the missions, objectives, inputs and outputs, performance measurements and content. Moreover, expansion of value-added services is also necessary.
