Predicting the discomfort caused by tractor vibration

Article Abstract:

A study of the inconvenience caused by the vibrations of an agricultural tractor, by measuring vibrations in the cabin, suggests that the International standard ISO 2631 method is the best method of the twenty methods used for measuring the discomfort caused by the vibrations to the tractor driver. The method uses the frequency weighted root mean square values of the vibrations measured at the seat pan of the tractor in the three orthogonal axes. Eleven tractor drivers participated in 704 tests carried out on four different tractors.

Laboratory work with automatic pipettes: a study on how pipetting affects the thumb

Article Abstract:

Mobilizing and stabilizing, the structural role of the muscles required during pipetting leads to strain on the thumb of the users and gets aggravated over repetitive performances. These effects were unacceptably high for the women performers with weak muscular structures. Necessity of some kind of automation in the pipetting techniques is discussed.

Time course changes in plasma creatine kinase over four days of repetitive manual work

Article Abstract:

A study of a control group performing repetitive physical and desk jobs suggests that increased rates of muscle turnover could be the possible cause of increased plasma creatine kinase for mild physical work. The pathological processes related to muscular strain and fatigue have been ruled out as the possible cause for the plasma creatine kinases.
