Prepaid services offer 3-in-1 solution

Article Abstract:

Cavalcade Color Lab Photo, a photo supply chain based in Huntsville, Ontario, relied on prepaid photo service to improve its minilab operations. Don Spring Jr. of Cavalcade noted that customers who choose this kind of service for film processing gain a discount of around 20% from the regular price. In addition, Cavalcade offers half price for the second set of prints, stated Spring. The service is also convenient since other people other than the original customer can pick up the prints instead, said Spring. This is possible since the customer pays money up front before service is rendered by Cavalcade.

Trends in international retailing

Article Abstract:

Photography retail operators need to examine other potential markets throughout the world. Management Ventures Inc. senior international analyst Bryan Gildenberg revealed that global merchandisers are working in 59 nations. The first level of retail involves mainly informal transactions, stated Gildenberg. Gildenberg cited the second level of global retailing as a modernizing phase. The third level is the more mature retailing environment that is a hybrid of informal and established systems, according to Gildenberg. The fourth level of retailing can possess extensive retail concentration, he added.

Article Abstract:

Walgreen and Kmart are two retail organizations whose employee recognition programs resulted in higher morale, greater employee loyalty and better customer service from their respective photo lab staff. Walgreen's one- hour labs are not manned by sales clerks but by photo specialists trained by Eastman Kodak. On the other hand, photo lab operators at Kmart undergo four levels of training culminating with passing the PMA Certified Photographic Consultant program.
