Product-country images and preference heterogeneity for Mediterranean food products: A discrete choice framework

Article Abstract:

The connection between the extrinsic region of origin (ROO) product cue and consumer perceptions for food are investigated along with the strength of ROO attributes across three food products, oranges, table grapes, and extra virgin olive oil are investigated. The analysis suggest that unobserved heterogeneity appears to explain more of the observed choice variation than heterogeneity associated to socio-economic characteristics.
