Psychometrics: science or pseudo-science?

Article Abstract:

Psychometrics is used by some 70% of companies, and is especially common when companies seek to recruit senior employees. Businesses believe such tests can establish compatibility for certain types of work. Some critics argue that psychometric testing is not as objective as companies believe. These critics include Angela Baron from the Institute of Personnel and Development. She argues that tests should be used with other selection methods, and that people tested may be less naive than is assumed.

Lies that ice the careers cake

Article Abstract:

Applicants for jobs are often not entirely truthful when they recount their career histories. Lies that are discovered may not always lead to dismissal. This depends on how relevant the facts uncovered are to the employee's position, and the length of time working for the company. Some companies ask to see original copies of educational certificates, while others regard this as offensive. Honesty is the most prudent approach when applying for jobs.
