Pulling force in lateral lifting and lowering

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the maximal voluntary lateral hand pulling force in a sample of healthy, habitually active men. Findings showed that static pulling forces were highest in flexed positions to the loaded side. Peak and position-specific pulling force decreased with increasing velocity in lifting. In contrast, pulling forces were higher than during lifting at corresponding velocities. Maximal voluntary pulling force in the frontal plane was found to be task dependent.

Activity analysis of English Premiership rugby football union refereeing

Article Abstract:

Research is presented on the physiological demands required of English Premiership rugby referees. Although the oxygen transport system carries the primary physiological load, rapid acceleration and deceleration also affect metabolic processes.
