Article Abstract:

cDNAs which are short oligonucleotides, arrayed on chips have become powerful tools to probe cellular mRNA populations. They allow the comprehensive determination of the expression of individual genes in a given cell type or cell state, the so-called "transcriptome". Although such analyses afford significant information, it would be equally useful to measure individual protein levels directly by proteomic analysis.

The study of proteomics described as a set of proteins encoded by genome evokes the set of all proteins isoforms and modifications, the interactions between them, and the structural description of proteins.
