Ramco Energy

Article Abstract:

Ramco Energy holds a stake of 2.0825% in ACG, a petroleum project in the Caspian Sea. The company does not have development costs due to an agreement with Penzoil. ACG is scheduled to commence production from 1997 and Penzoil will make payments after covering its development costs, which is likely to be in 1998. Ramco aims to develop new fields in Azerbaijan with the help of contacts established with the government. Ramco also has a pipeline coating subsidiary which has increased its profit, and a pump JV with Alnas, which has reduced its losses.

Ramco: value to be trapped

Article Abstract:

Ramco moved into Baku, Azerbaijan, in 1989 and was able to acquire a 2.08% carried interest in a consortium called AIOC. This consortium has access to the Gunashli, Chirag and Azeri oilfields where reserves are estimated at 4 billion barrels. The company will gain an initial 1.2% of profits and makes no contribution to the cost of development. Ramco is also involved in North Sea oil services, and has onshore interests in Azerbaijan. The company is seeking a right to part of a stake held by Penzoil in the Karabakh field in Azerbaijan.

Production from the fields in the Caspian Sea is scheduled to start in 2nd half 1996 with exports in 3rd qtr 1996 and cash benefits from 1997.
