Economist Jack Revell was born in Turnbridge Wells southeast of England. He went to a local grammar school in 1929. He worked as a junior bank clerk in 1937 and then accepted a civil service post in his home town in the same year. During the war in 1939, he applied and was accepted as a linguist for the Intelligence Corp. His entry to the world of economics started when he was accepted at the London School of Economics in 1945. These were followed by training at the Dept of Applied Economics in the University of Cambridge, the University College of North Wales in Bangor and the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development in France.
