Northern Rock has changed the rates it offers savers and its range of postal accounts, with savers often receiving lower rates, and only a brief notification period. Three new postal accounts have been set up, with accounts up to 120 days notice period consolidated into the Select Instant account. Customers can change accounts, but there are restrictions on which accounts they can move to without giving notice. The bank may not realise the extent to which savers' opinions have been affected by this treatment.
