Rep. Hobson rails against RNEP

Article Abstract:

The Bush administration has proposed $27 million for the fiscal 2005 budget to continue research on the Robust Nuclear Earth Penetrator (RNEP), a weapon that if developed could be used to strike targets, especially weapons of mass destruction, hidden far below the earth in hardened bunkers. However, Rep. David Hobson opposed the proposal and revealed that RNEP threatens U.S. efforts to curb the spread of nuclear weapons.
