Saint-Gobain Vertex invests in Poland

Article Abstract:

Saint-Gobain Vertex (SGV) (Litomysl, Czech Republic), glass fibre and fabric manufacturer, is realizing investments in Poland in 2001. The company bought the glass matting manufacturer Velimat (Gorlic, Poland) for more than CEK 90 mil in 2000. SGV increased Velimat's stock by another nearly CEK 130 mil and will use the finances for the firm's technical reconstruction in 2001. Velimat should be profitable after the reconstruction in 2002 compared to a loss of CEK 36 mil in 2000. SGV, which has been a part of the concern Saint-Gobain (France) since 1998, saw a net profit of CEK 593 mil under proceeds of CEK 5.06 bil in 2000. The firm tripled its proceeds and increased its net profit five times in 2000 compared to 1995.

Splintex Czech (Bilina-Chuderice, Czech Republic), flat glass manufacturer, plans to increase its production capacity. It will invest CEK 1.373 bil in the increase. The firm will receive investment incentives worth CEK 534.5 mil at the most for the project. Splintex Czech is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Glaverbel Czech (Teplice, Czech Republic).
