Sandoz is carrying out disposals prior to a merger with Ciba. The company has sold Master Builders Technologies to SKW Trostberg for 1.3 billion Swiss francs. The price is higher than forecast and the sale was carried out more rapidly than expected. Further disposals are likely by both Sandoz and Ciba. Ciba is likely to sell Mettler-Toledo, involved in weighing machines. Ciba's specialty chemicals division is also likely to be sold following the merger.
