Selling the boss on a risk management information system

Article Abstract:

A risk management information system (RMIS) related to controlling insurance expenses and insurance program costs has four functions: financial analysis, loss control analysis, claims management, and administrative functions. The selection of an RMIS should be based on a needs analysis of insurance management procedures and on the cost of the system. The advent of the microcomputer has made RMIS more cost-effective for middle-market companies. When cost-justifying the purchase of an RMIS for higher levels of management, each desired function within the system should be listed, briefly described, and associated with related costs, along with estimates of the economic benefit to be derived.

Crackdown on pyramid selling

Article Abstract:

The UK's Department of Trade and Industry has produced a new guide to help potential investors avoid being duped by pyramid selling schemes. The publication contains information on how pyramid-selling schemes work and describes the various categories they may come under, including network marketing, home-working, direct-selling schemes and multi-level marketing. Not all pyramid-selling trading schemes are illegal, but the classic types of money circulation schemes are against the law.
