Setting sites on new fields of development

Article Abstract:

The privatization of the Scottish Development Agency's (SDA) property holdings and the subsequent creation of the Scottish Enterprise as its replacement were aimed at interesting developers from the private sector in strategic joint ventures. The newly established Scottish Enterprise is focusing on work that is 'Strategic.' The organization is focusing on strategic land acquisition for the development of buildings as dictated by the customer's preferences, unlike its predecessor which concentrated on the large scale speculative erection of buildings. Although the Scottish Enterprise is greatly interested in obtaining private sector financing for joint venture developments, it also plans to undertake, on its own, projects that do interest its private sector partners.
