Shepherd Neame: old world Shepherd

Article Abstract:

Shepherd Neame sees vertical integration as advantageous in the brewing industry, unlike many other pub operators focusing in designer pubs and bulk buying. The company has invested in its brands which have seen a rise in sales. Shepherd Neame has also invested in land for a brewery expansion, and has invested in bottling and in its pubs, buying freeholds and selling pubs that were not performing well. The company faces competition in Kent, England, from beer imported from mainland Europe without duty having been paid.
