Sikorsky soon may grasp $3 Billion CH-53K contract

Article Abstract:

Sikorsky Aircraft, a unit of United Technologies Corp., is likely to take over a $3 billion sole-source contract for about 160 CH-53K (Kilo) helicopters. It is reported that the program involves a total 161 helicopters, with 156 operational aircraft among them, and a ground-test version and four engineering development models, and after the prime contract award to Sikorsky, contracts would be awarded to major systems suppliers and sub-suppliers.

The Boeing KC-767 tanker is seen as the only smart choice

The Airbus A330 has a wingspan of 198 feet that is 30 percent bigger than the 156-foot span of Boeing's 767. It needs stronger runways to support its weight and burns a ton more fuel per hour of flight than its Boeing rival.
