New digital technologies will be unveiled at PMA 2000

A vast array of new digital imaging products has been developed and will likely be introduced at the annual trade show of the Photo Marketing Assn in 2000. These include innovative compression technology such as Altamira Group's Genuine Fractals PrintPro, LizardTech's Mr.SID Publishing Edition 1.0 for Macintosh and LuraTech's LuraWave. Many photographic equipment makers are committing to IEEE 1394 or FireWire, a standard for high-speed transfer connectivity for use by professionals.

Silicon Film Technologies creates new digital camera solution

Article Abstract:

Silicon Film Technologies will launch its new digital photography solution at PMA 2000. Called the Electronic Film System, the package will include three digital components, two CD-ROMs with software and all necessary cables. The 35mm canister-sized film Cartridge will be introduced initially in versions for Canon EOS In, A2 and A5 SLRs and Nikon F5, N90 and F3. Its suggested retail price is $799.

Money-making digital photo kiosks take up little store space

Article Abstract:

Manufacturers have launched their latest consumer-operated digital imaging workstations. The digital photo kiosks usually include a print scanner, standard or optional 35 mm negative and slide film scanner and several digital add-ons such as PCMCIA-card readers, Photo CDs/CD-ROMs, Zip disks and floppy disks. Among the new products are Eastman Kodak Co's Koda Picture Maker, Fuji Photo Film USA Inc's Fujifilm Aladdin Digital Picture Center and Polaroid's Make-A-Print Station.
