Singles choice

Article Abstract:

Various businesses continue to launch initiatives to appeal to the single population, which is forecasted to account for 50% of the total US population. Although this consumer set comprises unattached individuals with substantial amounts of spending cash, the inherent diversity of the group requires intelligent target marketing in order to cover the greatest possible sub-segments. Among the contemporary strategies employed to attract single consumers, are offering a variety of choices for a product or service; appealing to a common personal characteristic or interest; and catering to the unique avocations of sub-groups, such as single parents or the so-called Generation X.

A Web that weaves dollars

Article Abstract:

Boise, ID-based Cougar Mountain Software, a creator of accounting software, suggests eight steps to make Web sites successful. A company Web site must be promoted in all corporate literature, meaning URL must be included on letterhead, business cards, advertisements and even envelopes. Aside from creating links to and from useful, non-competitive Web pages, search engines must be reviewed weekly to ensure URL has a favorable position. A firm must offer promotions directly related to its products, and purchase banner ads for searches directly related to the business. A strong domain name must be selected, with the site containing as much information as the company wants.
