Storehouse

Article Abstract:

Storehouse was set up in 1986 and the company's stocks have not performed well since then, but this could change due to a sharp stock price fall and major changes brought in by management. The company has a sound balance sheet, and its asset backing is strong. The group will be split, which should help by removing bureaucracy. Bhs will introduce food, and Iceland will be the retailer, a plan that minimizes costs. Bhs prices are to be cut and the range improved. The company is introducing branded goods. Meanwhile, Mothercare has sold some smaller stores and is seeing the benefits of these disposals.

Storehouse

Article Abstract:

Storehouse has seen an improvement in its profits despite a drop in volume sales for 1995 to 1996. Margins rose due to a lower level of discounting. Women's wear has performed well, as have household products. The group is carrying out a capital spend of 129 million pounds sterling, which includes refurbishments of stores. New contracts have been negotiated for the supply of goods, to boost both flexibility and quality. The group's profit is forecast at 125 million pounds sterling for 1996 to 1997 by SBC Warburg.

Storehouse

Article Abstract:

Storehouse is a United Kingdom retailer which has seen a drop in its stock price and could be an acquisition target if performance does not improve. The company's stock price dropped after profit warnings, but there are signs that its financial performance could improve. Capital spending reached a peak in 1998 and is likely to be 100 million pounds sterling in 1999. The company's stock price could benefit from the appointment of a new chief executive. The last chief executive was sacked in May 1999.
