Surfing for beginners

Article Abstract:

Surfing the Internet can be a daunting experience for first-time users but there are some pointers that can help ease their initial foray into the network. The first thing they should do is to choose the right Internet service provider (ISP). Bigger providers usually offer better services but they tend to be more expensive. After choosing an ISP, customers should procure special software tools, including the browser, the most common of which are Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer, and the search engine, examples of which are AltaVista, Excite, Infoseek, Lycos, WebCrawler and Yahoo!. Users can also avail of tools for locating files and software online. After some time, they should be able to grow their directory of sites and contacts. They should also develop a collection of e-mail addresses and Web sites.
