Despite Economic Difficulties Ad Campaigns Pay Off

Article Abstract:

The Japanese have become very adept at marketing their goods internationally. Their success in Latin America is an example. The success of the Japanese in Latin America stems from three major factors - Japanese advertisers are very sensitive to cultural and linguistic differences. Japanese advertisers have also maintained consistent and aggressive advertising campaigns for their products. Finally, Japanese advertisers have been quick to perceive and take advantage of various advertising opportunities. Vision is an inter-American magazine that Japanese businessmen advertise their products in regularly. Its annual audio visual supplement is now used exclusively by Japanese advertisers. Over the past ten years, American and European businessmen have decreased advertising in Latin America because of the recession. Japanese advertisers have continued to increase their expenditures. Now that the economy is recovering, the Japanese are in a very strong position for the future.

Test the Soil, Study the Climate: Simple Transplants Won't Work

Article Abstract:

Good media planning is as important for international advertising as it is for domestic advertising. There are several basic principles that a good media planner should apply to a plan. It is important to have an adequate budget to develop an advertising campaign abroad. A media planner needs to take into account that media usage varies considerably from country to country. Sophisticated research is available in most countries for the better known media. It is not as readily available for the lesser known media. Finally, a media planner needs to define his audience, target the audience and position the advertising effectively. Remembering these basic principles of media planning will help a media planner be successful in international media planning.
