Technology brings local newspaper on the road

Article Abstract:

The Tribune of Mesa, AZ, included editions of the Tallahassee Democrat as a special section in its single-copy newspapers for the benefit of football fans from Florida during the National Football Championship. The Tribune received issues of the Tallahassee Democrat and printed it for three days during Fiesta Bowl. Visitors from Florida were amazed that they were able to receive copies of their local newspaper even if they were far from home. Tribune sold thousands of single-copy newspapers during Super Bowl and exceeded revenue expectations.

My city, my newspaper

Article Abstract:

French newspaper Ouest-France launched a local supplement called Ma Ville Ouest-France (My City Ouest-France) in response to demographic changes in the cities where the newspaper is sold. The supplement deals with sports on Mondays; real estate on Wednesdays; automobiles on Thursdays; entertainment on Fridays; classified ads on Saturdays; and all the formats are carried on Sundays. The supplement has led to a rise in Ouest-France's circulation and advertising rates.

Spooky Halloween campaign partners with radio station

Article Abstract:

French newspaper Depeche du Midi's advertising sales went up by 15% after it implemented a radio advertising program with a Halloween theme called Night of the Living Media. Depeche du Midi teamed up with radio station Radio South in inviting advertisers to use the newspaper as their advertising medium. The newspaper's radio spot sounded creepy because it began with the sound of a chain saw.
