Telecom spending surging as battlefield is expanding

Article Abstract:

The deregulation of the telecommunications industry was expected to spark a major increase in business-to-business advertising among telecommunications companies. As of 1995, however, total spending of the top three long-distance telephone providers increased only by less than 2%. Many telecommunications carriers noted that they have become careful about advertising spending. Instead of focusing mainly on promoting their products, carriers are investing more funds to understanding customers needs.

The accompanying headline declaring interactive broadband technology to be more than video games easily encourages readers to try the advanced services it can provide them.
