Texas Instruments, Inc

Texas Instruments Inc's future is slowly brightening after six consecutive quarterly losses. The company's stocks posted 35 cents a share for 1st qtr 1992 versus a loss of 77 cents a share in 1991. Chairman, Pres and CEO Jerry Junkins noted an upward trend in the semiconductors market and expects a 13% growth in the domestic market. A $40 million 1st qtr profit was registered as a result of cost-cutting measures. Revenues advanced to 3% and orders for digital products rose to 10%. Dividends are pegged at 72 cents for the 82 million shares.

VLSI Technology, Inc

Article Abstract:

VLSI Technology Inc. signed a deal with Intel Corp which entitles it to use the latter's 386 SL microprocessor core and integrate it with its Functional System Blocks library and the design and sale of computer chips. Intel Corp, in exchange, acquired a 16.4% shares holdings and a three-year warranty to buy 2.7 million shares more. This deal will ease VLSI's financial losses which resulted from stiff competition of its personal computer chip set products and delayed software order receipts from a subsidiary company.

Micron Technology, Inc

Article Abstract:

Goldman Sachs' Rajiv Chaudri estimated a decrease of 12 cents in per share earnings for Micron Technology Inc for FY 1992 ending August owing to the company's expected high manufacturing costs. Chaudri expects Micron Technology to increase its market share in the coming years because of the price stabilization of dynamic random access memory chips. Investors are advised to buy the company's stocks.
