The Case that Jackie O Built

Article Abstract:

The question of whether famous people may be used in an ad without the person's authorization is one that is facing the courts now. Several celebrities and even heirs of celebrities have brought cases to court in which they feel their right-of-privacy have been invaded. Jacqueline Onassis and Clint Eastwood are two celebrities who brought a case against an advertiser and won. There are four distinct categories of individual's rights against invasion of privacy. Heirs of celebrities have less success in recovering from advertisers, but there are situations which will hold up in court.

Air Splitting

Article Abstract:

The National Association of Broadcasters' (NAB) rule permitting member stations to broadcast ads for two or more products in commercials less than sixty seconds long was terminated in 1983. Despite this, Alberto-Culver is suing CBS for continuing to promulgate the rule. The history of the NAB's problems with the multiple product rule with the Justice Department is given. Many industry observers are surprised over CBS' action since its competitors are accepting the multiple product commercials. Many believe that multiple product commercials are here to stay.

Built to last

Article Abstract:

The number of insects in the world today attest to the creatures as one of nature's most successful designs. Insects have an evolutionary advantage over man as they integrate surprisingly sophisticated structural and functional design features. There are about 200 million insects for each human in existence, and over 800,000 of a total 1.5 million species of plants, microorganisms and animals that have been identified are insects. By contrast, man uses and abuses nature but has yet to conserve it.
