Article Abstract:

The expansion of a tool kit that studies how drugs exert the biological effects by using powerful new approach such as yeast-based global fitness test that reveals genes involved in mediating the response of yeast cells to a test compound is presented. The expectations on this tool and other chemical genetic approaches to bring insights into the mechanisms of action existing drugs are also presented.

Structure-based maximal affinity model predicts small-molecule druggability

Article Abstract:

A model-based approach that uses basic biophysical principles has yielded good prediction of druggability based on the crystal structure of the target binding site. The two predictions are tested by using high-throughput screening of a diverse compound collection and the results have highlighted the use of this approach as well as strategies for tackling difficult targets.
