The brokers' new agenda

Article Abstract:

The crash of John Siddall, a stockbroking firm from Manchester, England, has affected brokers in the city as a whole. WH Ireland, another Manchester broker, is to buy some of Siddall. Ireland will have some 50 million pounds sterling funds under management after the deal with from 33 million pounds and 34 million pounds from Siddall. This deal has led to a debate on consolidation among brokers in Manchester where around 20 brokers operate. Costs are increasing, including compliance costs, and this is a pressure toward consolidation.
