The crisis in design should encourage us to reflect upon our sins

Article Abstract:

Designers define arrogance within their profession as overemphasizing the designer's talent at the expense of the meaning his work should convey. The car industry committed this fundamental mistake by hiring stylists for their products instead of genuine, expert designers. Moreover, they lacked the sensitivity to customer needs and demands and failed to realize how the designing process can be used effectively and correctly in achieving corporate goals.

Design on hold

Article Abstract:

The ventures of designers that have been rejected deserve attention because their transience does not render them insignificant. An exhibition of such creations will help society to understand their importance in the creative process and in culture. Instances from philosophy, literature, music and graphic design illustrate how people give more credit to permanence than to transience in art and in life.

Some conscious efforts to introduce variations in the scale are considered innovative designing while others go unnoticed.
