The hand that rocks the cradle

Article Abstract:

The Computer Related Design program at Royal College of Art, London, England was created to maximize the potentials of designing technology. Director Gillian Crampton Smith are working on designs for information technology that are both ergonomic and practical. Smith recruits students from diverse fields such as architecture, industrial design, software engineering and psychology to encourage an interchange between disciplines. Designs from the program include a telephone shaped into a glove and a radio that automatically records music favored by the owner.

Tony Arefin

Article Abstract:

Tony Arefin, a renowned designer and art director, is a self taught artist whose work is genuinely borderless and encompasses the whole world. Arefin designs books as he has a fetish for typefaces. Arefin's partnership with designer Stephen Coates has enabled them to create unusual designs that are a synthesis of the best features of the two designers.

Article Abstract:

The growing public acceptance of cosmetic surgery has taken over primetime with mass reality shows such as Fox's The Swan, which represent the desire to transcend the limits of the body and its perceived flaws and weaknesses through surgery. It exposes the extent to which the desperate urge to redesign ourselves has taken hold in our culture.
