Auto manufacturers in Canada are seeking to improve their market share by improving their quality of service, product design and reliability. Auto buyers, on the other hand, are demanding more for their money so that companies are coming out with new models and purchase incentives. Chartered accountants no longer wait in the wings but are more involved in creating value in the organization. The skills they bring to credit management, information technology, and purchasing have become important.

CA trio gives and gets credit

Article Abstract:

Newcourt Credit Group has achieved substantial growth since its beginnings in 1986. The company specializes in generating loans for life insurance companies wanting to lend money but are unable to arrange transactions on their own. Newcourt employs nearly 800 people in North America and has closed more than 35,000 transactions valued at over $8.5 billion. The company also received the 1996 Ontario Services Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Making a splash for a good cause

Article Abstract:

Maritime Medical Care Inc.'s (MMC) fund-raising program, headed by chartered accountant and corporate development director Jane Roy, will hold another charity war canoe race on Jun 14, 1997. The race hopes to better the $55,000 it raised in 1996 for Halifax, Nova Scotia's, IWK-Grace Health Centre for Women, Children and Families. MMC has invited large companies around Metro Halifax to compete for the Dustin Isan Trophy of Dreams.
