Investment trusts: Kepit sparks off soul-searching

Article Abstract:

The UK investment trust market has expanded leading to speculation abouth rationalization. There have been bids for Kleinwort European Privatization Investment Trust (Kepit) which have received widespread publicity. This has led to a debate on the duration of management contracts and the way that Kepit was marketed. Investors should also ascertain who is on the board of an investment trust. Ideally the chairman should be independent as should a majority of directors.
