Article Abstract:

Ugland International has set up a JV called HUAL with Leif Hoegh, a Norwegian shipping concern. This JV has helped Ugland into the top seven maritime vehicle transporters for long distances. Refrigerated transportation accounts for some fifth of profits. The company is involved in banana transportation, accounting for five of 13 refrigerated vessels. Ugland is protected by high barriers for new entrants, and capacity is tightening in Korea and Japan, which means that rates can be raised.
