Banque Nationale de Paris

Article Abstract:

Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) faces weak demand for credit from both businesses and households which are concerned about job security. A drop in interest revenue cannot easily be offset by income from commission due to the condition of capital markets. Margins are being squeezed as banks compete for scarce borrowers. BNP is benefiting from a reduction in bad debts and provisions have dropped by some 25%. Improved economic activity should help ease the bad debt problem.

Please Mr Postman

Article Abstract:

Postal savings accounts tend to give UK investors better rates of interest. This is especially true for instant access accounts, and postal accounts account for two thirds of the top 14 rates for UK instant access accounts. Investors usually need proof of address, though this is not always required. Postage means access can be delayed for three days, but telephone withdrawals services and cashpoint cards can help speed up withdrawal times.
