Touch of jam-tomorrow at Concurrent

Article Abstract:

Concurrent Technologies has paid off dividend arrears related to its preference shares, of which there are five classes. This is geared toward reorganizing the company's share structure. The preference shares are expensive to maintain and the company would be more attractive if they were bought out. Concurrent has performed well since Intel's withdrawal from its market and new clients include the US Postal Service. The company's profit is forecast to drop to 970,000 pounds sterling for 1997 by Bell Lawrie.

Compaq Computer

Article Abstract:

Compaq Computer ranks fifth among world computer producers, but is the biggest PC producer. The company has performed well apart from some problems in 1995 and aims to expand into Internet-related products. Sales have been strong and Compaq is also controlling costs well. Inventories have been reduced and payment collections have speeded up. This has boosted the company's margins. The company is operating in an expanding market despite some faltering in the consumer market.
