Track it

Article Abstract:

Companies are spending as much as 20% more than they should because their assets are underutilized, inefficiently maintained and/or stolen. In 1993 alone, UK businesses lost assets estimated to be worth around 10 billion pounds sterling to petty theft. Such losses and overspending can be avoided through effective management and tracking of company resources and assets. Fortunately, there is a wide variety of asset management systems that are available in the market. One of these is the barcode technology which is now increasingly used to streamline and accelerate asset tracking activities in sectors outside the retail industry. Aside from barcoding, many asset management packages offer automation of data collection, collation and reporting.

21st century software: a hard choice

Article Abstract:

Companies should consider a number of factors before purchasing international business and financial computer software. Firms should make sure that their programs are Year 2000 compliant to avoid system crashes and disruptions to operations. They should also prioritize the needs of the organization and the intended applications of the systems. Moreover, organizations should evaluate a vendor's technical support services before acquiring such software to accommodate concerns associated with downtime and usability. Some of the most popular international business and financial software include Sage Line 100, Pegasus Opera, Pastel Accounting, ASW Financials, Navision Financials, Infinium Financial Management and Sun Systems.
