UK: PACE OF ONLINE WINE BUYING ON INCREASE

Article Abstract:

The pace of online wine buying is increasing rapidly. The potential is recognised by retailers such as Oddbins the off-licence chain, Parisa group who advertises its Internet site in national press and Waitrose the supermarket chain who predicts 10% of wine will be sold via e-commerce. Waitrose.com found that more than 60% of online shoppers were from outside the catchment area of any of its branches therefore making no discernible impact on traditional retail sales.
