Gilclear Swatch Book

Article Abstract:

The Gilclear swatch book of the Gilbert Paper Co won a gold award in the graphics category of the 1992 I.D. Annual Design Review. Designed to promote Gibert Paper products, the swatch book used the ingenious device of featuring photographs of dictionary words that refer to the qualities of the paper on which the photographs were printed. The swatch book was characterized as quiet, careful and well-executed.

Andy's Arrow Alphabet Book

Article Abstract:

Andy Arrow's Alphabet Book by Kathleen Krause won a gold award in the graphics category of the 1992 I.D. Annual Design Review. The book has been in use as a hand-assembled educational tool for blind children. When asked to produce a promotional piece, Krause created a volume incorporating images with braille embossing and typography, the first alphabet book for the blind that can be tactually understood.
