Vicarious perception of postural discomfort and exertion

Article Abstract:

A study questions whether exertion and discomfort can be perceived by an external observer, thus finding the possibility of vicarious perception. Results show that vicarious perception of discomfort and exertion is possible and that there is a tendency toward conservatism in rating of exertion and discomfort, with low values being overestimated and high values underestimated.

The effect of work-rest schedules and type of task on the discomfort and performance of VDT users

Article Abstract:

A study conducted to compare the work-rest schedules for video display terminal (VDT) operators, considering data entry and mental arithmetic tasks, is presented. According to the results, mental arithmetic task is more discomforting than the data entry task.

Sitting comfort and discomfort and the relationships with objective measures

Article Abstract:

The view of comfort and discomfort in sitting are discussed using a theoretical framework in which, comfort and discomfort are defined. The hypothetical associations with underlying factors are indicated.
