Volvo drives truckers online to customize their own rigs
Article Abstract:
Volvo Trucks North America, a Greensboro, NC-based manufacturer of Volvo trucks, launched a Web site in 1997 which targeted independent mobile truckers. The site, which allows drivers to purchase Volvo trucks online, receives an average of 17,777 page views per day, according to the company's director of marketing communications and research, Jim Lesinski. Although the site may not guarantee sales, he expects site readership will further increase as more truckers will become interested in the company and its products. Site access and order processing are described.

'Land grab' for domain names reshaping trademark laws
Article Abstract:
World Wide Web domain name piracy has led to user confusion concerning the use of established trademarks. Internet infringement cases have also spawned a federal statute that prohibits the misappropriation of trademarks as a domain name. Companies are advised to conduct an online search at the InterNIC Web site to check if their trademarks have been violated. Domain names, which exceeded 1 million on Mar 6, 1997, are registered with Herndon, VA-based Network Solutions Inc.
