WP Versus PC: Comparing the Alternatives
Article Abstract:
Word processing equipment and personal computers are compared as to differences in function. Vendors are bombarding managers with information on these systems. These new types of office equipment are designed to increase productivity. Four word processing systems are reviewed: stand-alone, shared-logic, shared resource, and distributed-logic. The main criterion for a system entails how well the equipment does the tasks it's designed to do. A clear understanding of the uses of the equipment is necessary. Trends show that the cost of computer memory is decreasing.

The role of intuition in heading off any potential problem in finance has been recognized by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA), as seen in CICA's Criteria for Control which has a provision for such intuitive insights in their use for investigations. Author Gavin de Becker's Gift of Fear gives an insight on the usefulness of intuition in avoiding many problems. de Becker believes that the wiring of the human mind includes intuition as an evolutionary mechanism that helps the organism avoid many harmful situations.
