Web malls add online purchasing

Article Abstract:

The number of World Wide Web-based marketplaces offering online purchasing services is increasing. Fisher Technology Group's ProcureNet and General Electric Information Services/Thomas Publishing Co's Trading Process Network are among the Web malls providing such transactions. Meanwhile, distributors report that selecting the right marketplace to offer their online catalogs is difficult since Web malls have different business-to-business selling strategies.

Kiosks boost Internet interaction

Article Abstract:

Experts are convinced that kiosks will become a permanent fixture in the future for business marketers. Its growth is driven by the Internet which is widely used in banks, stores and trade show booths. Business travelers will find the availability of Internet terminals more convenient instead of carrying laptops with them and searching for places to connect them. Marketers find that a key business application for kiosks is on the trade show floor.

AutoByTel proves the Net can move big-ticket items

Article Abstract:

Irvine, CA-based AutoByTel sells automobiles via the Internet. Since it moved to the Web in Mar 1995, the company has processed 575,000 car purchase requests. AutoByTel, which was established in 1994 by Pete Ellis and John Bedrosian, has over 2,000 subscribing auto dealers and expects to add 1,000 more by the end of 1997. CFO John Markovich reports that its system generates savings of $830 per car as compared to a conventional dealerships.
