Aside from the absence of a expenditure guide, companies often involve various departments in the budgeting of website development, further increase costs. However, analysts predict that in the near future, sky-rocketing costs for developing websites will cease to exist.

Tampa Electric Co. (TECO) established its own website to provide information about the company, its employees and benefits. The website, which is connected with the company's Electric Technology Resource Center, also generates sales leads for TECO's various lighting products. The total start-up costs for the website was about $7,500 and total operating costs run to about $1,500 a month.
