The job outlook for '96 grads

Article Abstract:

A job outlook survey conducted by the National Assn. of Colleges and Employers among 259 employers indicates that the job market for 1996 is rosier than in 1995. Employers intend to hire 23.5% more graduates in 1995-1996. Students who wish to work in the service sector have more opportunities with merchandisers, computer software employers and data processing services. The best candidates are those with oral communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills. They should also have proficiency, possess analytical and leadership qualities and are flexible.

The job outlook for '95 grads

Article Abstract:

Employers have decided to interview and hire more graduates this year due to an increase in business activities. Those graduates involved in campus organization or extra curricular activities would be considered along with those with relevant experience and skill to communicate in the interview. Job candidates are identified by job listing through the campus career centers and by participating in cooperative education programs or internship.

Dennis Reigle, Managing Director of College Recruiting for Arthur Andersen-Americas, he discussed how professional recruiters can compete successfully for job market candidates. College recruitment programs should be consistent in the selection of applicants. They should also be adept at identifying top performers and skilled in assessing behaviors at the least time possible.
