A Monte Carlo study of spherical electrical double layer of Macroions-polyelectrolytes systems in salt free solutions

Article Abstract:

A study of the microstructure and the electrical double layer (EDL) of polyelectrolytes around macroions by analyzing the impact of particles size, chain length, and charge density of polyelectrolytes on the microscopic behavior of the macroions-polyelectrolyte bulk systems is done by a canonical Monte Carlo simulation. It is observed that the two main factors, influencing the microstructure of polyelectrolyte around the macroions are potential mean force between the macroions, and potential of the spherical EDL built by polyelectrolytes.

Simple model for overcharging of a sphere by a wrapped oppositely charged asymmetrically neutralized polyelectrolyte: Possible effects of helical charge distribution

Article Abstract:

The complexation of a polyelectrolyte bendable rod with an oppositely charged spherical macroion is investigated. Possible applications of the results to the description of overcharging of the nucleosome core particles are discussed.

Charge regulation of interacting weak polyelectrolytes

Article Abstract:

The generalization of the standard mean-field theory of charge regulation in weak polyelectrolytes (Pes) is discussed. The mean-field approximation is used to study the interaction between a polyacid and a polybase.
