A hybrid deterministic-stochastic algorithm for modeling cell-signaling dynamics in spatially inhomogeneous environments and under the influence of external fields

Article Abstract:

An extension of Gillespie's First Reaction Method to the case of spatially inhomogeneous system coupled to a set of fields whose evolution is determine by partial differential equations (PDEs) is presented. Such fields might arise when considering models in which the rates of the discrete reactions of the master equation are coupled to some external PDE, or they might arise as approximations to the dynamics of other discrete particle populations that are present in large copy numbers.

Dielectrophoresis of an inhomogeneous colloidal particle under an inhomogeneous field: A first-principle approach

Article Abstract:

A first-principles approach to dielectrophoresis of an inhomogeneous colloidal particle under an inhomogeneous field of an oscillating electric dipole moment is described. It is shown that both multipolar interactions and spatial fluctuations inside the particle can affect the dielectrophoretic spectrum of the particle significantly.

Theory of electrical conductivites of ferrogels

Article Abstract:

A general model is presented for ferrogels which are chemically cross-linked polymer networks swollen with a ferrofluid. The effect of the shape and/or material conductivity anisotropy on the effective electrical conductivity of the ferrogel is studied in the presence of an external magnetic field.
