A kinetic and spectroscopic study of the in situ electrochemical promotion by sodium of the platinum-catalyzed combustion of propene

Article Abstract:

The electrochemical promotion of propene combustion was investigated in a sodium Beta"-alumina-supported platinum film catalyst. Sodium was found to enhance the chemisorption of oxygen and inhibit the adsorption of propene. Results also indicated that catalyst poisoning is due to the thick layers consisting of sodium carbonate and that the promotion and poisoning behavior is fully reversible as a function of catalyst potential.

Electrochemical promotion by sodium of the rhodium-catalyzed reduction of NO by propene: kinetics and spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

The catalytic performance of rhodium thin films in contact with the solid electrolyte Na beta alumina can be greatly enhanced by electrochemical promotion. Electrochemical promotion of Rh is due to the reversible transport of ions between the solid electrolyte and the metal film catalyst with which it is in contact.

Electrochemical promotion by potassium of rhodium-catalyzed fischer-tropsch synthesis: XP spectroscopy and reaction studies

Article Abstract:

The catalytic behavior, chemical state and morphology of a RH thin film catalyst electrochemically promoted by alkali are investigated by XPS, and SEM reactor studies. The reaction mechanism is discussed with respect to identify the active site and the role of the alkali promoter.
