Absorption of unsaturated hydrocarbon moieties on H:Si(111) by Grignard reaction

Article Abstract:

Grafting of unsaturated hydrocarbon moieties by a C-Si covalent bond was attempted by the Grignard reaction on hydrogen-terminated Si(111) in tetrahydrofuran solutions. The findings suggested that unsaturated hydrocarbon moieties are applicable for further organic modification to introduce functional groups, and are prospective materials in nanofabrication and biological application on silicon wafer surfaces.

Dry synthesis of triple cumulative bonds (C=C=C=N) on Si(111)-7 x 7 surfaces

Article Abstract:

The interactions of cyanoacetylene and diacetylene with a Si(111)-7 x 7 surface is studied as model systems to mechanically understand the chemical binding of unsaturated organic molecules to diradical-like silicon dangling bonds. Results show that cyanoacetylene mainly binds to the surface through a diradical reaction involving both cyano and C(triple bond)C groups.

Geometrically kinetic competition mechanism to shape control on digenite nanocrystals with silica vapor in APCVD

Article Abstract:

The shape control synthesis of digenite nanosheets and nanowires through control on the silica vapor pressure in the system is reported. Critical vapor pressures for silica sheath initialization and crystal shape maintenance are determined and the geometrically kinetic competition (GKC) mechanism is supposed to be responsible for the phenomenon.
